Intel Geek Squad Targets Culture, Language

Posted by blosint on January 4, 2008

The newly created Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency — one of the latest attempts to create a new DARPA-like entity — has released a preliminary solicitation that gives a good indication of what one of the agency’s primary interests will be — culture (and linguistics). IARPA this month began soliciting proposals for the “Socio-cultural Content in Language Program“. (Source: Danger Room )

In fact, IARPA is extending the research area of strategic intelligence…as Kent wrote by it starting with 1949, and this is the agency’s primary interest. Culture (and linguistics) will be one of them (primary interests) as an element of the strategic intelligence’s component: sociological intelligence.
